Mangrove Restoration Program

Our teams work with schools, local communities, and government partners to restore degraded mangrove forests

Climate Education for Schools

We collaborate with local schools to integrate environmental education into their curriculum.

Youth Empowerment and Green Skills

We train young people in sustainable livelihoods, eco-entrepreneurship, compost production, and recycling.

Gender and Environmental Justice

We support young women and girls to overcome barriers to education and economic participation & climate action.

One Tree One Child – A Greener Tomorrow

We are a community-based organization in Bamba Ward, Ganze Constituency, Kilifi County and Mombasa, Kenya. We focus on mangrove restoration and environmental conservation through children and youth participation. By planting trees and nurturing eco-awareness, we build sustainable futures for coastal communities.

Environmental conservation starts with awareness. At One Tree One Child, we believe children are the heart of environmental change.
We teach them to plant trees, care for the ocean, and value nature. When a child learns to plant a mangrove, a community learns to protect its future.

Our programs connect schools, families, and local leaders to take action against climate change. By restoring mangroves, we restore hope for coastal communities that depend on healthy ecosystems for survival.

No. Of Children Imparcted

One Tree One Child is a Kenyan environmental and community-based organization working in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties. We focus on restoring mangrove forests along the Indian Ocean, educating children and youth on climate action, and empowering local communities through green livelihoods. Our goal is a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for every child.

Why Mangrove matters

Mangroves are more than trees. They are natural shields protecting coastal families from floods, erosion, and storms.
They provide nurseries for fish, crabs, and other marine life, ensuring that local fishermen can sustain their livelihoods.
Sadly, large areas of mangroves along Kenya’s coast have been destroyed. One Tree One Child is restoring these forests through community-driven replanting programs, where every seedling is a step toward a cleaner and safer future.

The Challenges We Face

Climate change and deforestation threaten Kenya’s coastline. Unchecked cutting of mangroves has left communities vulnerable to rising sea levels and soil erosion.
Without strong community engagement, the loss of these ecosystems will continue.
Our mission is to reverse this trend by restoring degraded areas and empowering people to protect what sustains them.
Our Mission

To uplift children and their communities through environmental education, reforestation, and sustainable livelihood programs

Our Vision

A sustainable world where children and youth are empowered to protect and restore the environment for future generations.

Protecting the Lifeline of the Coast

Mangrove forests are vital to life along the Kenyan coast. They protect shorelines from erosion, provide homes for marine life, and support the livelihoods of thousands of families.
Through our mangrove restoration program, we plant and nurture mangroves with the help of school children, youth groups, and community volunteers. Together, we rebuild ecosystems and strengthen local resilience to climate change.
